MBA PREPS "PRIDE" METHODOLOGY PODCASTS
Aimed at eliminating confusion in Systems Development and IRM
PALM HARBOR, FL, USA (July 28, 2008) - In an unprecedented move, M. Bryce & Associates (MBA),
the developers of the "PRIDE" Methodologies for IRM announced plans to produce a series
of podcasts explaining the methodologies and how they work. "PRIDE" was originally introduced
in 1971 as the first systems methodology in the industry. Since then it has evolved
into a comprehensive approach for Information Resource Management (IRM), including
structured methodologies for Enterprise Engineering, Information Systems Engineering,
Data Base Engineering, and Project Management.
In 2004, the vendor released "PRIDE" to the world in text form via the Internet.
Now, MBA is releasing a series of podcasts explaining the methodologies via the
company's weekly "Management Visions" podcast. The rationale and mechanics of
each methodology will be explained phase-by-phase.
Asked why the company is releasing an audio version of the methodologies,
MBA Managing Director Tim Bryce said, "It has been my observation that systems
development has become an overly complicated process and, frankly, it doesn't have
to be that way. People are confused and are looking for direction. Perhaps we
can help through an audio version of our methodologies. Although "PRIDE" is a
substantial body of work, it is actually based on some rather simple and common
sense concepts derived from engineering and manufacturing. These free podcasts
will be real keepers and I encourage people to download them accordingly."
Bryce went on to add, "Not all methodologies are created equally, some are
waterfall based, others are forms driven, Agile, or programming oriented.
Other than "PRIDE" I know of no other methodology that is as comprehensive
as "PRIDE" or who use a truly engineering/manufacturing approach to systems
work. It is a universally applicable approach that can be used in any company,
on any information system, in any cultural environment, and is not restricted to any
particular computer platform, data base, language, or programming tool/technique."
People who wish to tune into the podcast can do so beginning with the
August 4th, 2008 edition of "Management Visions" which is located at:
http://www.phmainstreet.com/mba/mv.htm
Started in August 2005 "Management Visions" is a weekly broadcast which
discusses a variety of management and IRM related topics. It is available
in the following file formats: MP3, RM, and WMA. The "Management Visions"
blog, which contains transcripts of the show, is located at:
http://managementvisions.blogspot.com/
The "PRIDE" Methodologies for IRM site is at:

According to Bryce, "Our goal is to demystify systems work and present it
in terms that everyone can understand. Basically, we want to take the
gobbledygook out of this business."

"MORPHING" BOOK HELPS STUDENTS TRANSITION INTO THE BUSINESS WORLD
PALM HARBOR, FL, USA (July 26, 2007) - M. Bryce & Associates (MBA) is pleased to announce
the release of a new book for young adults entitled, "MORPHING INTO THE REAL WORLD - A HANDBOOK
FOR ENTERING THE WORK FORCE" (ISBN 978-0-9786182-5-4).
The book is a comprehensive and handy survival guide for young adults entering the work
force and is written by Tim Bryce, a seasoned management consultant with over 30 years of
experience. Mr. Bryce has consulted with some of the largest corporations in the world,
as well as many small and medium sized businesses.
WHO SHOULD READ THIS BOOK?
This book is universally applicable to anyone entering the work force for
the first time. Although the original intent was to write this for college
graduates, it is equally applicable for anyone starting off in life, be it
someone entering the work force straight out of high school, an immigrant
starting his/her life in this country, or someone leaving the military and
entering the work force.
Corporate Human Resource departments will also find this book useful
for setting new hires on the right track in their career. The lessons included
will expedite the adaptation to the corporate culture and thereby make the new
employee more productive, more rapidly. It not only reinforces the many formal
rules as contained in corporate policy manuals, but also includes the subtle
unwritten rules we must all observe while working with others.
"This must be one of the best jobs of writing that I have ever reviewed. You have
done a fantastic job on this book and handled a rather difficult subject very
well. Every young person entering the workplace for the first time should be given
a copy of this book. This book is a Bible to guide young people through one of
the most difficult and important times in their life. As a matter of fact, this book
should be passed out to every young person at graduation. You should be very
proud of your work." - Bill Petrey
The book is excellent for college Career Service personnel and for Career Day programs.
SEMINAR
Complementing the book is a one day seminar of the same name which can be purchased

MBA DAILY PRODUCTIVITY ANALYZER INTRODUCED
PALM HARBOR, FL, USA (September 5, 2006) - M. Bryce & Associates (MBA) is pleased to announce
the availability of its new "MBA Productivity Analyzer," a free calculator for analyzing a person's
productivity in the work place. The calculator is derived from a recent paper produced by MBA
entitled, "How Effective Were You Today?" (published August 21, 2006) and is available either
as a PDF file at:
http://www.phmainstreet.com/mba/ss060821.pdf
Or as part of MBA's blog, "Moving IRM from an Art to a Science," see:
http://blogs.ittoolbox.com/pm/irm/archives/how-effective-were-you-today-11230
"The paper generated a groundswell of interest from the public," said Tim Bryce, Managing
Director of MBA and author of the paper. "So much so, that we created a live calculator for
people to use in studying their personal productivity."
The calculator is available in three forms:
"There is nothing magical about the analyzer," Bryce said, "It is only a simple
demonstration illustrating the fact that there is more to productivity than efficiency. The
analyzer begs the questions, 'Are we doing the right things?' and 'Are we doing things right?'"
People are free to use the analyzer at their own discretion. It is available at
the company's web site, specifically:

"BRYCE MANAGEMENT ANALYSIS" SERVICE INTRODUCED
PALM HARBOR, FL, USA (July 24, 2006) - M. Bryce & Associates (MBA) is pleased to announce
a new service aimed at evaluating the people management skills of a manager. The "Bryce Management
Analysis" is an Internet based form, whereby people answer a short series of questions which are analyzed
and a report generated consisting of a fair and impartial analysis of a person's management skills, including:
"Basically, we have come up with a slick way for people to analyze their own personal
management style, along with some pertinent suggestions for improvement," said Tim Bryce,
Managing Director of MBA. "In beta-testing the service, we found we were pretty accurate in
terms of the analysis we produced. Its not absolutely perfect yet but we will keep fine-tuning
it."
Which is one reason why the service is being offered to the public for free, at least for now.
"The analysis is as good as the person's input," said Bryce, "It is like anything else,
garbage in - garbage out. What is nice about this service, it will either reaffirm a person's
opinion of their abilities, or it may raise a few eyebrows in terms of considerations
they havn't thought about. Either way, its a win-win situation."
Although this is primarily intended for businesses, it is also applicable for government and nonprofit
organizations (anyone who has to manage a group of people). The responses are recorded but
remain confidential and are not redistributed to anyone else.
A language translation filter is provided so that the service can be used in other languages,
including: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portugese, Russian, and
Spanish. The resulting analysis though is produced in English.

those aspiring to become a manager or for those who need a refresher course. It will also be of
interest to young people entering the work force.
Excellent for college curriculums.
INTRODUCTION:
Who should read this book? Managers.
The corporate landscape has changed a lot since I first entered the work force in the
1970's. Thanks to changes in government regulations and socioeconomic conditions, we have
witnessed substantial changes to corporate cultures in terms of communications, fashion,
socialization, morality, and how we conduct business. Despite all this, one thing has remained
constant: the need to get a job done, and this is the domain of the manager.
Quite often management is taken for granted, that it comes naturally to people. It doesn't. I see
companies spending millions of dollars on technology but little on improving the skills of its
managers. To me, this is putting the cart before the horse. Some people are afraid to manage;
probably because they don't know how to or because they live in fear of a lawsuit. And others
devise harebrained schemes to manage their area (usually involving the manipulation of
numbers). There is actually nothing magical to management; all it requires is a little
common sense. But as I have learned over the last 30 years in business, if there is anything
uncommon today, it is common sense. I wrote this book because management is not naturally
intuitive to people, nor is it painless, and to remind you that "man" is the key element of
"management."
This book is well suited for those aspiring to become effective managers, as well as
for those who require a refresher or change of focus. It should also be read by workers to
better understand what is required of a manager, thereby lending him the support he desperately
needs to fulfill his duty. Some of you may not like what I have to say, and I warn you that I am
not always politically correct. Regardless, my observations are based on years of
experience traveling around the world and visiting with hundreds of different types
of corporations where I have seen a lot of successes, as well as a lot of snafus.
This book is actually based on a collection of papers on Information Resource Management
(IRM) I wrote from 2004 - 2006. My original intent was to discuss such things as planning,
systems and data base design, and project management. However, I was encouraged by
my readers to expand my commentaries into other areas involving general management,
hence the development of this collection of papers.
Throughout this book you will hear a lot about such things as corporate culture,
empowering the workers (managing from the bottom-up), and the need for
developing the socialization skills of the next generation of our workers; in other
words, the human elements of management. This is one reason why our
corporate slogan is "Software for the finest computer - the Mind," for in
the end, it is the human-being that matters most, not our technology.
The eBOOK (ISBN 0-9786182-3-8) is 90 pages in length and is implemented using the popular
Adobe Reader. This
provides the means to quickly navigate the eBook through bookmarks as well as print the pages
(8.5" x 11" paper). The price for this version is $20.00 (U.S.) plus tax and is delivered via e-mail.
The eBook is sold and destributed by MBA as well as authorized book retailers (discounts available).
Excerpts from the eBook are also available (a trial version); click
HERE for the PDF file.
The eBook is excellent for both corporate managers as well as at the university
level where it complements a college curriculum.

"PRIDE" METHODOLOGIES FOR IRM GO PUBLIC
PALM HARBOR, FLORIDA, USA (November 18, 2004) - M. Bryce & Associates (MBA)
is pleased to announce the public availability of their "PRIDE" Methodologies
for Information Resource Management (IRM). "PRIDE" includes defined
methodologies for:
Also included is a Project Management system describing how
to plan, estimate, schedule, report and control projects.
These are the same universally applicable methodologies commercially
marketed by MBA around the world and are based on engineering/manufacturing
principles. Each methodology is structured into a set of phases and
activities with defined deliverables and review points.
According to MBA Managing Director, Tim Bryce, "PRIDE was
the first commercially available methodology in the industry
and has remained a viable approach for developing systems
and data bases for a number of years. It has stood the test
of time and it is now our intent to put it into the public domain
in order to make it an industry standard."
"PRIDE" is available as an Internet download consisting of a
set of HTML and JPG files suitable for use with any web browser
(or can be viewed directly on-line at):
http://www.phmainstreet.com/mba/pride/pride.htm
The files contain tutorials defining the methodologies, complete
with examples, and includes supplemental narratives describing the
infrastructure and support mechanisms to make "PRIDE" work. The
supplemental narratives describe such things as developing an
IRM Repository (a Dictionary/Directory system for cataloging and
cross-referencing information resources), Quality Assurance,
documenting current systems, etc. A comprehensive glossary of
terms is also available along with an index to navigate throughout
the extensive documentation.
MBA has formally explained and defined its concepts and terminology
for the development of information resources. The company sees the
benefits to the industry as two-fold; First, it will bring standardization
to the development process for companies, and; Second, this will
be an opportunity for colleges and universities to put "PRIDE" to
work in the classroom as a means to groom analysts and developers for
the years ahead.
MBA will continue to offer training and consulting services
in the support of "PRIDE."
